Answers

1. How do I load a resume?

Post your resume online through your profile! To upload your resume document, first make sure you are already logged into your account and go to the "Account Information" tab. Locate the "Upload Resume" box area and click on the browse button to select your file. The preferred format is a .pdf (not easily editable) or you can use a word document (.doc). Notice the name of your file is shown in the "Current Resume" box after it has been uploaded.

To upload a different resume, click on the browse button repeating the same steps as above.

2. How do I load and size my picture?

To upload your picture, first make sure you are already logged into your account and go to the "Account Information" tab. Locate the "Upload a Profile Picture" box area and click on the browse button to select your file. Please remember to only use either a JPEG or GIF format.

The image resizing tool lets you choose what portion of the picture you would like to show on your page. After you're finished, your current picture shows up in the "Account Information" tab. To change your picture, simply hit the browse button to choose a different photo.

3. What do I write for my bio?

Write about yourself! What do you want people to know about you and what you do? If you're feeling stuck, check out other user profiles for some ideas!

4. How do I cancel my account?

To cancel or upgrade your account, first log into your account and go to your "Account Information" tab. Locate the "Membership Information" link on the top right of the tab. Once you click on that link, your tab will change to show your membership status as well as several options to change your account. You can cancel your membership from there.

5. How do I modify my bio, bulletin or business card?

Log into your account on QAlias in the top right side of the website. You will then have access to your member services to edit accordingly.

6. When will my new information show on the web?

Immediately. If your information or pictures are not showing, hit the "Refresh" button on the top of your browser window.

7. What if I forget my password?

If you forget your password, simply go to the top right of the site and click on "Forgot Password?" to follow the steps to retrieve your password.

8. How do I upload my business card from a pdf file?

[Directions for Acrobat 6.0 or higher] Open the file on your computer. After you have opened the file go to "File" > "Save As..." and select the file type as JPEG. You can then use this file to upload onto your profile by logging into our account and going the the "Business Card" tab.

10. How do I replace my website link?

To replace or add your personal website link, first log into your account and go to the "Account Information" tab. Type in the web address in the "Personal Website Address" box.

Sample: http://www.qalias.com

To name the website you've decided to show just enter the name you would like to use in the "Personal Website Title" box.

11. Why didn't my information get saved?

For your personal security, our system will log you off if there is a period of an hour of inactivity. This way, if you log into your QAlias account at a public computer and leave without logging off, we log you off preventing someone else from making changes to your account. The easiest way to avoid this is to write down your bio or bulletin text on your text editor of choice. When you feel it is ready, copy the text from the document, log in to your QAlias profile, and paste the necessary changes.

12. Can I copy text into my bio and bulletin from another document?

Yes. First go to your document and copy the text. Usually you do this by going up to Edit on the top of your document window and clicking Select All. Then back up to Edit and clicking Copy. Now simply go to your profile page in your browser window and click on the text area for the bio or the bulletin (anywhere on the white box). Once you see the mouse cursor blinking inside the box, go up to Edit in the top of your browser window and click on Paste.

13. What are the system requirements to use this website?

QAlias works best with any of the following browsers: IE 5.5+ (Windows), Firefox 1.0+, Mozilla 1.3+ and Netscape 7+.
